Two Heroes Public House

 Forgive us blog-people, it has been far too long since our last blog. Since our last check in, we've poured a bar, put paint on the walls, coated (some of) the floors, and continued to work on various parts of the construction.   Like any other commercial build, the never ending list of small projects continues to be, well, never-ending.  And like any other commercial project, the budget get's bulged, prices climb and the owner-operators end up trying to pitch in wherever they can.   This construction has been especially taxing, as we are in a wild economic climate where prices continue to escalate, work continues to drag on, contractor availability varies, and we still can't get some essential components.  Yeah, like an electrical panel.  That's right, although the panel was ordered 11 months ago, we still don't know when we will receive our 600amp master panel.  Wild, we know.  Running off temporary power has reached its limits, and we have bee...

 The warm early November has leant itself to continued exterior work the last couple weeks.  With the asphalt plant closing by Thanksgiving, we wanted to get some pavement down before winter, should the tap room open shortly after the new year.  The mild days brought all the exterior contractors out in full force.   We continued to have roofing work done by Dave Derby, who is a man on a mission with standing seam roofing.  He does a fine job, a one man show, and continues to show up day in and day out.  Bradley, our siding and all around guru, has been decorating the exterior with board and batten, also, all by himself.  But, both the guys have been at it non-stop. The interior is really beginning to take shape as drywall installation and taping are coming to an end.  We have used some recycled Hemlock for our window sills and half wall caps.  The sheetrock installers bring their music each day and keep us rocking while we work inside.  ...

 Slow and Steady wins the Race At least that's our motto at this point.  The challenges of construction continue as we make our way into the fall weather (although today was nearly 70 degrees...). We battle with short staffed contractors, hard to get items, and the general slowness that is the construction world these days. Much has happened since our last check in.  Kevin Lovejoy and his team have been back to build out all of our porches and patios.  Despite the absolute girth and hugeness of these post and beams, Kevin and his son were able to assemble all the lumber in incredible time.  After, they put up some thick V-groove spruce that will act as the ceiling and the roof.   The interior continues to be in flux.  After framing out the walk in coolers, insulators came and sprayed foam between the studs.  Spray foam was also applied to the underside of the roof sheathing.  Thereafter, insulators used rock wool to stuff all the walls, makin...

 Well, it certainly hasn't been the fastest build, but we are doing what we can with todays construction environment.  And, it has been a strange time to build; contractors are short staffed, everyday items are oddly hard to get, and inflation has prices on the rise, a lot.  We have been coping as best we can, so that we can make the project come to fruition.  We are, however, super thankful to the contractors who continue to show up, continue to have a positive attitude, and to continue to care about the project. We are grateful for all of the hard work that will go into making this amazing community space. We've battled deliveries of our septic tanks, but they are all in.  Our civil engineer did a great job clumping them together and our excavation contractor finalized the work by making the grading pretty.  We have a small footprint to fit a building, all the parking, storm water, and septic tanks, all without encroaching on a 2nd class wetland.  Go...

 It has been a minute since our last post.  Progress has moved a bit slowly over the last month and half.  We have been awaiting the return of contractors, delivery of equipment, and other timing issues.   After Kevin and his crew framed up all the wood exteriors, the roof, and taped and sealed everything, and we prepped for the slab, then, we waited.  Finally, we got a call from SD Ireland and they came and poured our slab.  What an awesome job they did and their crew was exceptional at making sure all of our pitches came out nicely.  We were able to to get a fun time-lapse out of it (available on our instagram, @twoheroesbrewery) as well.   After the slab was poured, we awaited SD Ireland's return to pour the two walk in coolers and the mezzanine equipment platform.  Finally, three weeks later, they returned to finish the job.  This is how construction has been going, post covid.  All contractors are struggling with having enough ...
