Two Heroes Public House

Monday this week meant we were receiving our pilot system and chiller.  We had the tractor available to move the items off trucks and over to the garage door.  Getting the items into the building was another story and took some thinking.   At the end of the day we were able to get the brew system inside on a dolly, then when in place, we put the castors on.  Daren has spent many hours cleaning, investigating and ultimately learning all the components of the system. The chiller came in two parts, the outside condensing unit and the tank and pump on a pallet.  The tank and pump will live on top of our walk in cooler while the condensing unit will be installed outside on a stand.  This glycol system will be enough to handle all the vessels in our small brewery as well as the walk in cooler. With the help of a few good friends and a pretty simple solution, we were able to stack our 3.5 BBL horizontal tanks.  This makes more floor space for our process. Wit...

Things are starting to feel very real. We have been doing "regualar" building renovations for a couple months, and still have many things to do like water filtration, leaky roofs, and trying to make the exterior not look like a crappy corner store. But...we are slowly introducing our stored equipment into the space. Much of this equipment was purchased over the last year and stored outside. This equipment was orignally purchased to be included in the final brew pub location. However, some of these pieces will fit and be usable in our pilot location in the mean time.  We spent half the day yesterday moving six pieces from our covered storage location on South Street to the brewery space.  Ok, so it's really well used.  But we intend to bring it up to speed.  We picked up a super old kegerator from a guy in Rutland.  We have to replace the compressor, but we have faith it will be a success.  With this bold purchase, we also received a mini chiller, which actually works, and we can use for our small 2 barrel fermenter.  We are excited!  In the beginning of 2020, we were making great headway and finally received all the permits required to green light our project.  With the onset of COVID-19, we slowed on our progress obtaining financing to build the structure and subsequently outfit it with the equipment required to do business.  Our long time lender moved to another bank which does not intend to loan to new breweries and restaurants.  This led us to preparing lots of financial paperwork for submission to new banks.  We have had two banks show significant interest as of the end of September, so we are feeling optimistic for a Early Spring Ground breaking in 2021.  In the meantime.... Welcome to the blog about a very exciting Brew Pub addition in South Hero! Follow as we embark on journey through the construction of a 50 seat restaurant and brewery in the Champlain Islands. This idea started about 5 years ago, when we decided that South Hero needed another easting place that had community in mind.  While watching the the brewery market for over a decade, we believe that a small town nano brewpub would be a stable model to both produce beer and run a local restaurant.  We believe that community is the most important aspect of this town and we serve to fill the void for a local gathering place for community members and visitors alike. We eventually came to a piece of property owned by MKN LLC in the heart of South Hero.  This will be a good home as part of a small development which houses a bakery, a health center, the town library and the town fire station, and a multi use commercial building.  Our building will be a great addition to the landscape...
